The Government of Alberta has announced a significant change to its immigration process, set to take effect on September 30, 2024. The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) will introduce a Worker Expression of Interest (EOI) system for its worker streams. This new system requires candidates to submit an online EOI form, which will be scored and ranked based on a points grid. The AAIP will conduct periodic draws from the Worker Stream pool, selecting candidates based on their EOI scores, provincial labour market needs, and available nominations.
