The Government of Canada has entered into a collaborative agreement with Yukon to enhance the Territorial Nominee Program, addressing regional labour shortages and establishing pathways to permanent residency. On October 1, 2024, Immigration Minister Marc Miller announced this initiative, which will provide new work permits for up to 215 temporary workers in Yukon. These skilled professionals, essential to the territory's economic growth, will be able to maintain their employment while their permanent residence applications are being processed.
