Canada extends support for Lebanese nationals amid crisis

In response to the escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Government of Canada has announced temporary measures to aid those affected. Immigration Minister Marc Miller revealed that immediate family members of Canadian citizens and permanent residents who left Lebanon after September 29, 2024, can now apply for open work permits, study permits, or status extensions at no cost. Also, Lebanese nationals already in Canada with valid temporary residency status are eligible for these benefits. These measures, effective until July 31, 2025, aim to provide a safe haven for those impacted by the crisis while keeping families united.
