Canada's immigration minister is considering eliminating LMIA points for permanent residency

Canada’s Immigration Minister Marc Miller is contemplating removing bonus points for Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) in Canada's permanent residency application process. The current system, which awards 50 points for standard LMIAs and 200 points for management positions, has become susceptible to abuse, with some LMIAs being sold on the black market for up to $70,000. The minister expressed serious concerns about this exploitation, stating that while LMIAs have value, their misuse necessitates a potential overhaul of the points system to maintain the integrity of Canada's immigration process.
