Immigration ministers commit to enhancing the immigration system together

On May 10, 2024, Immigration Ministers discussed Canada's 2025-2027 immigration plans. They emphasized the benefits of immigration and a well-managed system. Key points included the impact of $625M employment service cuts, the balance of temporary and permanent residents, and the role of data in managing volumes. They acknowledged the need to welcome displaced people, provide solutions for Ukrainians wishing to stay in Canada and strengthen the asylum system. The ministers agreed to establish a working group to handle asylum seeker affairs while acknowledging the significance of Provincial Nominee Programs in meeting regional needs.
