IRCC extended immigration measures for some Ukrainians under the CUAET

On August 2, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) extended its immigration measures and support for Ukrainians and their families through the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET). Applications approved on or after February 4, 2024, allow Ukrainians to benefit from these temporary measures until December 31, 2024. Previously, the deadline for arrival under the CUAET program from outside Canada was March 31, 2024. While CUAET no longer accepts new applications, Canada continues to process applications for permanent residence for those fleeing Russia's illegal invasion. This new pathway closes on October 22, 2024. As of the latest update, IRCC received 1,189,320 applications under the CUAET, and from March 17, 2022, to April 1, 2024, 298,128 Ukrainians arrived in Canada under the program.
