Statistics Canada's latest report reveals a notable downward trend in the number of US citizens working temporarily in Canada, dropping from 61,698 in 2010 to 38,867 in 2023. Conversely, work permits for US non-citizen residents have surged, rising from 3,728 to 17,353 during the same period. The shift is particularly evident in the overall composition of Canada's temporary foreign workforce, where the representation of US workers has decreased dramatically from 16.6% in 2010 to just 4% in 2023, marking a significant transformation in Canada's international labour landscape.
